Police respond to Warren County shopping center after money truck robbery
WEEKEND COMING UP IN A FEW. CHRIS. ALL RIGHT. ALISON, THANK YOU SO MUCH. IN BREAKING NEWS TONIGHT, A MASSIVE POLICE PRESENCE IN DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP AFTER A BRINKS TRUCK ROBBERY. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING ON FIELDS ROAD AT A SHOPPING CENTER NEAR KINGS AUTO MALL. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND WLWT NEWS FIVE’S RACHEL WHELAN LEADING THE WAY. WITH WHAT WE’VE LEARNED SO FAR ON THIS SITUATION, RACHEL. HI, CHRIS. WELL, FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE HAVE LEARNED THAT A SUSPECT WAS NOT ARRESTED. AND AS WE ALL KNOW, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BUSY AREA HERE OFF FIELDS ROAD. WE ARE TOLD THAT THIS ALL STARTED DOWN THE STREET, ACROSS THE STREET HERE AT THE ROSS DRESS FOR LESS STORE. I WANT TO SHOW YOU SOME VIDEO. A VIEWER SENT US AROUND 530 JUST AT RUSH HOUR WITH LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND. YOU CAN SEE DEPUTIES THAT WERE ARMED. WE CAN SEE AT LEAST ONE OF THEM RUNNING AROUND, GUNS DRAWN. AT ONE POINT, HE POSTS UP BEHIND A TREE. AGAIN, WITH LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND. WELL, WE JUST LEARNED FROM A LIEUTENANT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY SAID THAT A SUSPECT CAME OVER TO THE ROSS DRESS FOR LESS STORE AND APPROACHED AN ARMORED BRINKS DRIVER AS THEY WERE LEAVING THE STORE AND TAKE A LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS HAPPENED. THAT’S WHERE HE WAS AMBUSHED BY AN UNKNOWN SUSPECT DRESSED IN ALL BLACK WITH BODY ARMOR AND ARMED WITH A SHOTGUN. THAT DRIVER TRIED TO GET AWAY. HE FELL. HE WAS ALSO ASSAULTED. BY THE UNKNOWN SUSPECT. UNKNOWN SUSPECT DID TAKE HIS WEAPON. TOOK THE BRINKS TRUCK AND FLED THE SCENE. TO WHERE? BEHIND THIS. JCPENNEY IN SYMMES TOWNSHIP. SO THIS IS THAT OLD JCPENNEY ON FIELDS RURAL ROAD, WHERE THEY FOUND THE BRINKS TRUCK. BUT WE’RE TOLD THAT THE SUSPECT GOT AWAY. AGAIN, THIS ALL UNFOLDING HERE. VERY BUSY AREA AND SHOPPING CENTER. WE SAW A HUGE POLICE PRESENCE EARLIER FROM DEPUTIES FROM SYMMES TOWNSHIP AS WELL AS DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP IN HAMILTON COUNTY. SHERIFF’S OFFICE WAS HERE AS WELL AS O. S P AND WESTCHESTER POLICE, BUT THEY HAVE ALL EXCEPT ONE VAN HERE PRETTY MUCH CLEARED. STILL WITHOUT HAVING ARREST A SUSPECT. HOWEVER, THE LIEUTENANT TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY SUSPECT INFORMATION AT THIS POINT, BUT WE WILL UPDATE YOU AS SOON AS WE LEARN MORE. AS FOR THE DRIVER OF THAT BRINKS TRUCK, WE ARE TOLD THAT THEY WERE INJURED AND THEY WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND WE ARE UNKNOWN ABOUT THEIR CONDITION IS UNKNOWN RIGHT NOW. REPORTIN

Multiple officers responded to a shopping center in Warren County after an armored money truck was robbed on Friday afternoon.Police responded to a shopping center near Kings Auto Mall, off of Fields Ertel Road, around 5 p.m. Friday.The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a Brink’s truck was robbed, and has since been recovered.An officer at the scene said the suspect approached the truck with a shotgun outside the Ross Dress for Less store and assaulted the driver.The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said the driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Police said the suspect drove the Brink’s truck a short distance and then ran from the scene. No further information on the suspect has been provided. It’s not known what the suspect was able to take from the truck. Police began to leave the scene around 6:45 p.m. Friday and the search for the armed suspect is ongoing.
