The 49ers love to draft running backs and apparently couldn’t resist Indiana’s Kaelon Black at No. 90 in the third round.
A muscular 5-foot-10 back, Black can run through tackles but is limited as a receiver and a blocker in pass protection.
The 49ers drafted Jordan James in the fifth round last year and are high on him as a potential backup to Christian McCafrrey, but Isaac Guerendo, a fourth-rounder in 2024, can pretty much pack his bags.
The 49ers also drafted RB Tyrion Davis-Price in the third round in 2022 and Trey Sermon in the third round in 2021.
