ST. LOUIS (AP) — Julio Rodríguez, Will Wilson and Cole Young each homered, and Leo Rivas hit a two-run single in the ninth to help the Seattle Mariners beat the St. Louis Cardinals 11-9 on Saturday.
Rivas lined the bases-loaded hit off Riley O’Brien (3-1), who had not allowed an earned run in 13 previous appearances this season.

Matt Brash (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Andrés Muñoz pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his fifth save.
Nathan Church homered twice and had four RBIs, JJ Wetherholt and Iván Herrera hit back-to-back home runs to leadoff the bottom of the first inning, and Pedro Pagés also homered for St. Louis.
Mitch Garver and Young hit back-to-back singles off JoJo Romero to leadoff the eighth inning, and Connor Joe stroked a pinch-hit, two-run single off O’Brien to tie the game at 9-all.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Andruw Monasterio hit a grand slam as part of a 10-run ninth inning and Boston snapped a four-game skid with a victory over Baltimore.
Hours later, the Red Sox (10-17) fired manager Alex Cora and five members of the coaching staff. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Chad Tracy, who had been managing the club’s Triple-A Worcester affiliate.
Willson Contreras added a three-run homer and Caleb Durbin a two-run shot in the Boston ninth against Orioles outfielder Weston Wilson, after Monasterio’s drive had helped to chase reliever Keegan Akin in his season debut.

It was the biggest inning of the season for the Red Sox.
The late power show came after Orioles starter Trevor Rogers (2-3) allowed three runs in 1 2/3 innings, throwing 47 of his 62 pitches in the second. His ERA has ballooned from 1.89 to 4.75 in the past three starts.
Garrett Crochet (3-3) struck out seven over six shutout innings, the first four coming while the game was still competitive.
BLUE JAYS 5, GUARDIANS 3
TORONTO (AP) — Kazuma Okamoto homered for the second straight game, Andrés Giménez hit a two-run single and Toronto beat Cleveland.
Daulton Varsho had the tiebreaking hit in Toronto’s three-run sixth inning as the Blue Jays won for just the second time in eight games against AL Central opponents.

Kevin Gausman (2-1) allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings to win his second straight start as the Blue Jays bounced back from Friday’s 8-6 loss.
Mason Fluharty got one out, Tyler Rogers worked the eighth and Louis Varland survived a rocky ninth inning for his second save in two chances despite allowing pinch hitter Kyle Manzardo’s RBI double. Varland struck out Brayan Rocchio for the final out, leaving the bases loaded.
Okamoto went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and scored twice. He homered in the fourth, singled and scored in the sixth and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.
David Fry hit a solo home run, his first, but Cleveland couldn’t manage to win back-to-back games for the fourth time. The Guardians have yet to win three straight in 2026.

RAYS 6, TWINS 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) —Shane McClanahan turned in five scoreless innings to get his first win at Tropicana Field in nearly three years as Tampa Bay beat Minnesota.
The left-hander, returning from two surgeries that cost him the 2024 and 2025 seasons, scattered three hits and struck out seven.
Kevin Kelly, Hunter Bigge and Trevor Martin finishing up for McClanahan (2-2).
Jake Fraley provided the early run support, connecting for a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his second of the season. The Rays added four more runs late, capped by a Ben Williamson RBI double in the eighth.

Williamson finished with a single, double and triple.
Bailey Ober (2-1) was solid for Minnesota, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings, but it was not enough against a dominant Rays offense that has won six straight games when out-homering its opponent.
The win was the third straight for the Rays, who are 3-1 against Minnesota in the season series. The Twins have lost four straight and eight of their last nine.
GIANTS 6, MARLINS 2
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Casey Schmidt hit a two-run homer, Drew Gilbert and Heliot Ramos added solo shots and San Francisco beat Miami.
The Marlins took an early 1-0 lead on Xavier Edwards’ RBI single off Giants starter Robbie Ray with two outs in the third before Gilbert tied it in the fifth with his homer off Miami starter Eury Pérez, his second of the season.

Pérez then surrendered a double to Matt Chapman and a home run to Schmidt in the sixth, giving the Giants a 3-1 lead. After Pérez (2-2) was pulled, Patrick Bailey made it 4-1 with an RBI single.
Ramos hit his third homer of the season in the eighth and Luis Arraez made it 6-1 with an RBI single, his second hit of the game. The Giants finished with 11 hits on the day.
Matt Gage (2-0) got the win in relief of Ray, who allowed four hits and struck out four in five innings.
Pérez struck out six but allowed seven hits and four earned runs.
NATIONALS 6, WHITE SOX 3, 10 INNINGS
CHICAGO (AP) — Nasim Nunez drove in four runs, including two in the top of the 10th inning, as Washington beat Chicago.

Automatic runner James Wood scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the top of the 10th before the Nationals tacked on three more runs against Jordan Leasure (2-1) on a walk with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Nunez.
The White Sox could muster only one run in the bottom of the 10th off Brad Lord.
Washington starter Jake Irvin allowed four hits, struck out nine and walked none. Cionel Perez (2-3) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win as the Nationals won for the first time in four games.
Noah Schultz allowed two runs on four hits over six innings while striking out eight for the White Sox.

PIRATES 6, BREWERS 3, 10 INNINGS
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Bryan Reynolds had a go-ahead single in the 10th, Nick Gonzales followed with a two-run single and Pittsburgh beat Milwaukee
Henry Davis started the 10th at second for the Pirates against Angel Zerpa (0-2). Pinch-hitter Marcell Ozuna walked and Nick Yorke pinch ran for Ozuna. Reynolds singled to left to score Davis and chase Zerpa. Gonzales then hit a sharp single off Grant Anderson to drive in Yorke and Reynolds.
Gregory Soto (2-0) pitched the ninth, and Yohan Ramírez worked the 10th for his first save.
Milwaukee had a chance in the bottom of the eighth against Dennis Santana. Garrett Mitchell laced a two-out double and Sal Frelick was walked intentionally before Greg Jones struck out swinging.

Frelick had a pair of sacrifice flies for Milwaukee, the second off reliever Issac Mattson to tie 3 in the sixth.
Spencer Horwitz’ sacrifice fly in the sixth put the Pirates ahead 3-2. He also drove in a run with a single to center in the fourth. Rookie Konnor Griffin followed with his second hit in the game, a two-out run-scoring single.
The Brewers tied it in the fourth. Jack Bauers led off with a single and took second on left fielder Jack Mangun’s fielding error. Mitchell’s groundout scored Bauers.
RANGERS 4, ATHLETICS 3
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Josh Jung hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the sixth inning in the Texas Rangers’ victory over the Athletics.

Jung muscled an inside slider for an opposite-field homer into the home bullpen in right-center following Corey Seager’s single to help the Rangers tie the A’s atop the AL West at 14-13.
Jung is hitting .371 in April with four homers, 11 runs and 14 RBI after beginning the season 0 for 17 in March.
Cole Winn (2-1) retired all three batters he faced following left-handed starter MacKenzie Gore, who allowed all three runs on six hits and three walks in five innings. Jacob Latz, the last of four Texas relievers, pitched a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Ty France homered twice and Gavin Sheets hit a two-run single during a four-run seventh inning as San Diego rallied past Arizona in Mexico City.
Mason Miller pitched a perfect ninth for his 10th save, extending his scoreless streak to 34 2/3 innings dating to last season and breaking the previous Padres record set by reliever Cla Meredith with 33 2/3 innings in 2006.
The hard-throwing Miller hasn’t allowed a run since Aug. 5, 2025. It’s the eighth-longest shutout streak by a major league reliever since 1961.

Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen was hit by a line drive on his pitching shoulder in the third. He was lifted after three shutout innings as a precaution, manager Torey Lovullo said.
Padres starter Germán Márquez (3-1) gave up four runs in the second, but that was it. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out two.
San Diego (18-8) has won 16 of 19 after a 2-5 start.

RED 9, TIGERS 2
CINCINNATI (AP) — Sal Stewart hit a three-run home run and drove in five runs as Cincinnati beat Detroit.

Nathaniel Lowe, Elly De La Cruz and TJ Friedl also homered for Cincinnati which is nine games over .500 for the first time since Aug. 2, 2003. At 18-9, the Reds are off to their best start since going 18-8 in 2003.
Tigers rookie Kevin McGonigle led off the game with a solo home run, his second of the season. He has reached base in 23 straight starts, the longest streak for a Tigers rookie since Austin Jackson reached in 25 straight from April 11 to May 9, 2010.
Reds right-hander Brady Singer (2-1) allowed eight hits and two solo home runs through 5 1/3 innings.
Stewart’s ninth home run of the season followed a pair of walks issued by Jack Flaherty to put Cincinnati ahead 3-1.

Four pitches later, Lowe, who hit the two-run, walk-off homer in the Reds’ 9-8 win on Friday, hit his second homer in as many at-bats to make the score 4-1.
De La Cruz increased the lead to 6-1 with a two-run blast, his ninth, in the second inning.
Stewart and De La Cruz are the second pair of Reds teammates since 1900 to each hit at least nine homers before May in the same season, joining Austin Kearns and Adam Dunn in 2003.
ROYALS 12, ANGELS 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Cole Ragans struck out 11 in six sharp innings and Nick Loftin had a career-high four RBIs as Kansas City routed Los Angeles.
Ragans (1-4) allowed one run and five hits. It was the 15th quality start this season for the Royals, who entered the day tied for second in the majors in that category.

The left-hander had runners on second and third with one out in the second but got consecutive strikeouts to end the inning. The lone blemish for Ragans was a solo home run by Jo Adell in the fourth.
Loftin had an RBI single, a two-run single and a bases-loaded walk. Salvador Perez went 3 for 5 with a solo homer and an RBI double.
Vinnie Pasquantino drew three walks, including one with the bases loaded. Royals batters were handed 10 free passes in all.

YANKEES 8, ASTROS 3
HOUSTON (AP) — Austin Wells hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning and New York extended their winning streak to eight games with a victory over Houston.
Trent Grisham and José Caballero also went deep for the Yankees (18-9). The winning streak matches their longest in a single season since June 2024.
Ben Rice had three hits and an RBI for New York, which has won 11 of 12 in Houston.
Grisham put the Yankees on the board with his third home run, tying it 1-all in the third. In the fifth, Caballero’s third homer gave New York a 2-1 lead.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Roki Sasaki earned his second career victory and Los Angeles rallied with six runs in the fourth inning to beat Chicago, snapping the Cub’s 10-game winning streak.

Shohei Ohtani ended an 0-for-12 skid with a single in the first and then swiped second for just his second stolen base of the year. He had one of the Dodgers’ 14 hits as Los Angeles set a season high for runs at home.
Sasaki (1-2) gave up four runs — three on solo homers by Seiya Suzuki, Moisés Ballesteros and Miguel Amaya — and seven hits with a career-high 99 pitches on his bobblehead night. The Japanese right-hander struck out five in his fifth career start, pitching into the sixth inning for the first time this year.
He went 1-1 as a rookie last year before working as the closer during the Dodgers’ run to their second straight World Series championship.

Max Muncy hit a tying two-run homer in the third for the Dodgers, who had lost five of seven. Their bullpen blew a four-run lead in a 6-4 loss in the series opener Friday that dropped them out of the NL West lead for the first time this season.
The Cubs took their last lead, 3-2, on Ballesteros’ two-strike homer off Sasaki in the fourth.

ATLANTA (AP) — Bryce Harper had four RBIs, including a tiebreaking single in the 10th inning, and Philadelphia snapped their 10-game losing streak with a win over Atlanta.
Phillies ace Zack Wheeler made his 2026 debut and looked strong, giving up two runs and three hits over five innings. The right-hander returned from thoracic outlet decompression surgery last September after a blood clot was discovered in his pitching shoulder.
Wheeler struck out six, walked three and left with a 3-2 lead. Harper had two hits and scored twice for the Phillies, who hadn’t won since April 13.
Brad Keller (1-0) tossed 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win. Kyle Backhus got Michael Harris II to ground out with two runners aboard to end it.
