Apple has just released watchOS 26 beta 5, the latest update for developers running the Apple Watch beta. Here’s what to expect.
New watchOS 26 beta available for developers, with public beta likely following soon
August is here, bringing a new wave of beta software from Apple. Today those releases are only for developers, but public betas should follow in the next couple days.
Today’s watchOS 26 beta 5 release is right on track with previous history of Apple releases.
Now that we’re little more than a month away from the software’s public launch, expect to see the release schedule shift to a more regular weekly rhythm.
So far, some of the watchOS 26 highlights for Apple Watch users include:
wrist flick
Workout Buddy
watch face ‘hints’
improved Smart Replies
the Notes app
and the Liquid Glass design
Beta 5 is typically when Apple implements some of its last noteworthy revisions before transitioning to a focus on stability.
So far in the watchOS 26 beta cycle, some of the biggest changes we’ve seen have involved the new Workout design and some UI tweaks to Liquid Glass.
Whatever form those design elements take in today’s beta 5 is likely very close to what ends up shipping publicly next month.
