Justin Rose has never been just a golfer who shows up and plays. Away from the course, he has invested in an AI coaching startup and has also built some selective sponsorship portfolios. So when he signs up as an investor and the face of a brand, it says something. A partnership begins this week, and the timing is anything but a coincidence.
A 45-year-old Englishman has officially signed with McLaren Golf, becoming the brand’s first global ambassador and its inaugural Tour player. Additionally, he is now an investor in the company. This deal was confirmed on Monday, and the world number five will debut his McLaren clubs this week at the Cadillac Championship in Miami.

Justin Rose has been part of McLaren Golf’s design and development process for nearly two years. He was a catalyst in testing prototypes, providing performance feedback that helped shape the equipment now heading to the tour. Reflecting on the partnership in the brand’s Instagram announcement post, he acknowledged just how long this moment had been in the making.
“It’s been a long time coming and being part of the design and development phase for over the past year + has been a fun and fascinating experience. Let’s go!”
The brand hinted at its entry into the golf equipment market back in March but did not disclose any player involvement at that time. Justin Rose is the first, and currently the only, professional player to be announced.
The connection between Justin Rose and McLaren Racing runs deeper than a standard contract. For one, he has a long-standing friendship with CEO Zak Brown. At the same time, he is a regular playing partner of Lando Norris and has been a frequent guest of the team at F1 races over the years. The timing of this week’s debut lines up neatly with the Miami Grand Prix weekend.

On the course, Rose will carry McLaren’s signature papaya-colored staff bag and wear the brand mark on his chest. McLaren Golf’s website will go live on April 29th, and the official launch event is scheduled for Wednesday in Miami.
Rose also shared his opinions on joining hands with the $5 billion brand further in the official statement, sharing that this has been a passion project for him.
“I’ve had the opportunity to be involved from the outset, working with the team, testing the clubs and helping shape what they’ve become. That level of involvement combined with the standards McLaren brings to everything they do, made this an easy decision for me.”

Justin Rose has been performing exceptionally well in terms of sponsorships. He has also co-founded a women’s professional golf series with his wife, Kate, demonstrating his commitment to the business side of the sport beyond just playing.
Rose’s sponsorship roster notably includes companies like Morgan Stanley and Workday. He recently added the global advisory firm Teneco to his list of partners, and now, with his latest deal with McLaren, he has made a significant statement. Overall, Rose seems to be in a very advantageous position regarding sponsorships and business opportunities in golf.
In January, Rose won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, marking his 30th PGA Tour title. He also finished in the top three at the Masters earlier this month. Presently, he leads the PGA Tour in greens in regulation and ranks in the top ten for Strokes Gained in Approach shots.
The McLaren Racing–Gulf deal is not the first time Justin Rose has put his money into a high-end, engineering-led venture tied to sport.

Justin Rose’s Go All In Pattern with Other Ventures
Back in January 2022, Rose joined a group of high-profile investors, including Mark Cuban, Ronnie Lott, and Drew Brees, to back Mustard. The Los Angeles-based startup had raised $6 million at the time and was built around patented computer vision technology that analyzes an athlete’s movement from a simple video, without the need for sensors or specialized equipment.
Initially, the platform focused on baseball, particularly pitching mechanics. However, it was always designed to scale across sports, which is where Rose saw the upside early and chose to get involved.
Two years later, in April 2024, that involvement deepened. Rose became Mustard’s first brand ambassador in golf, effectively leading its expansion into the sport. Notably, his long-time performance coach, Jason Goldsmith, is also a co-founder of the company.

From there, the golf product evolved around swing analysis. It compares a player’s motion against 3D data models built from thousands of professional and amateur swings, before delivering a personalized coaching plan.
At the time, Rose summed up his reasoning clearly: “I partnered with Mustard at the outset because I truly believe in their mission to give the everyday athlete access to the best teaching available.”
All of it points in the same direction. Whether it is aligning with McLaren Racing or backing a company like Mustard, Rose is not just attaching his name to projects. Instead, he is consistently leaning into ideas built on performance, data, and long-term scalability. In that sense, his off-course decisions mirror his approach to the game itself.
