The White House’s post declared Trump a king alongside King Charles III
The White House declared President Donald Trump to be a king in a post on X that featured him chatting animatedly with King Charles III.
“TWO KINGS,” the tweet reads, featuring a crown emoji. In the attached picture, Trump appears to be laughing at something Charles said.
Twitter erupted in criticisms of the post, with one writing, “1 king you disrespectful oaf.”
Another chimed in and wrote, “1776 called, they’re asking why America is celebrating kings again.” That user attached a picture of U.S. revolutionaries bearing muskets, with the caption, “I want a government so small I can fight it with a musket.”

“Ummmmmmm two kings?” another wrote, attaching a popular reaction gif of a stuffed monkey looking sideways at the camera.
“That’s not going to go over well,” yet another wrote, attaching a photoshopped image of a famous George Washington portrait featuring the first American president flipping off the viewer.
“Didn’t y’all have a war all about not having a king?” another wrote.
The post comes hours after Trump was slapped with controversy after photos and videos showed him appearing to make a grab for first lady Melania Trump’s butt while the first couple greeted Charles and Queen Camilla at the White House on Tuesday.

A clip from a livestream of the greeting shows Trump shaking King Charles’ hand, then awkwardly placing his hand on her back. But shortly after he does so, he slides his hand down and squeezes his wife’s butt.
Almost as if he realized what he did, the president quickly swiped his hand away before giving Melania one more pat on the back, this time on her waistline. He then removes the hand altogether and shakes the King’s hand once more.
Trump and Charles greeted each other warmly on Tuesday as the monarch began a day of diplomacy in Washington designed to emphasize a bond between the United Kingdom and the United States that is so strong it can withstand the political turmoil of the moment.
