OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — The Oklahoma City Thunder is heading to the Western Conference semifinals after sweeping the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team arrived back in OKC in style and received a warm welcome from fans.
Some fans waited for more than an hour at the gate at Will Rogers World Airport to greet the team as they landed back on home turf.
Fans were prepared with cow bells, homemade signs, and brooms to signify the first-round sweep.
“We just want to make sure the Thunder knows the community’s always behind them in the playoff time; all year round but really the playoffs because they’re traveling, going to other places. When they get back home, they get that hometown feeling. They know they’re back to Oklahoma City,” said Devin Newsom, a Thunder superfan.
