When you mention the word unibrow to regular people, most of them would think of a body feature where two eyebrows naturally grow together and connect into one. Many consider it to be unappealing and simply out of the ordinary. However, for NBA fans, that same term immediately points to one guy — Anthony Davis.

Davis has rocked his signature style even before he stepped foot into the best basketball league in the world. Growing up, of course, there were moments when he was a bit worried about how it would look as he became more aware of it, but now, 14 years into his NBA career, he couldn’t be more proud of it.

It has become a part of his persona, and AD admitted in his appearance on the “Glass Half Full” podcast that that famous brow made him hundreds of millions just by existing there on his face.

“Yeah. I embraced it. Because I’ve made hundreds of millions of dollars with it. So, why cut it off?” Davis explained while laughing.

AD with two eyebrows?

Anthony was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and went to high school at Perspectives Charter School. But, as he admitted, before the start of his freshman year, he had a tough decision to make. Entering a new environment, meeting new people, and trying to impress the opposite sex were some of the things that made him question what to do with his “unibrow.” So, he decided to shave it.

Yes, once upon a time, there was AD with two separate eyebrows. However, after a while, Davis realized that it would only make things worse, because that middle patch would grow back, and sometimes even thicker than before. That’s when young Anthony understood that he might as well just rock with it.

As he arrived at the University of Kentucky, that signature brow became something people started recognizing him for, and the same thing followed when he was selected by the New Orleans Hornets as the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

“It just kind of flowed, like when I went to Kentucky it was, ‘Ey, the Brow is here!’ It kinda stuck, and I started getting a little paper on the side from it. And I just rolled with it. It’s been very good to me,” AD added.

Davis earned a lot of money as “The Brow”

Even though Davis is now on a downward spiral in what will undoubtedly be a Hall of Fame career, there was a period of time when he was one of the best two-way players in the league. A five-time All-NBA selection, three-time blocks champion, and most importantly, an NBA champion, AD racked up plenty of accolades while rocking a style that once made him nervous walking into high school.

During his 14-year tenure in the NBA, Davis has earned north of $364 million in contracts alone. And when you add all the endorsements and marketing deals, it becomes clear that the Brow played a role in building that brand. So, it’s obvious that it’s not going anywhere, not now and not even after retirement.

“It’s a part of who I am now,” the 10-time All-Star concluded.

Currently a member of the Washington Wizards, the last couple of seasons have been quite turbulent for the Brow. However, the veteran forward still has lofty expectations from this new-look team, and just like his game, that signature look is here to stay, no matter what. And honestly, we couldn’t picture him with two eyebrows anyway.
