The Lynx will tip off the season May 9 against the Atlanta Dream.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Lynx will start their season a little early.

The team announced Friday that they’ve moved up their season-opener against the Atlanta Dream to Saturday, May 9. The game, which is also the Lynx’s home opener, will tip off at 7 p.m. at Target Center.

While five-time All-Star Napheesa Collier won’t yet be in the lineup as she continues to recover from an ankle injury she suffered in the playoffs last season, there’s still plenty of optimism, especially with the addition of No. 2 overall pick Olivia Miles. Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams return after averaging 14.2 and 13.6 points per game, respectively.

The four-time WNBA champions are expected to be among the top teams in the league this season. The Lynx finished with the best regular-season record in the league last year, before losing to the Phoenix Mercury in the semifinals.
