It’s the social media starlet and Dancing with the Stars champ’s birthday today, May 1st. D’Amelio took her to Instagram to celebrate the occasion, sharing a carousel of two cute frames with the simple caption, “22 !”
Charli D’Amelio was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut and began dancing at the age of three. She was a competitive dancer for more than a decade before she began posting TikToks in 2019. D’Amelio became known on the platform for lip syncs and dance videos, often being duetted and stitched with other artists on the platform. For a brief time, both she and her sister, Dixie, were a part of the content creator collab house, The Hype House. In 2020, following appearances in Nickelodeon specials and a SuperBowl commercial, D’Amelio became the most followed person globally on TikTok and the first user to gain 50 million followers. As of 2026, D’Amelio has over 156 million followers and is the second most followed person, only surpassed by Khaby Lame.

In the last few years, D’Amelio has crossed over into mainstream media from the internet. From 2021 to 2024, she and her family starred in their own reality show for Hulu. In 2022, she joined the cast of the 31st season of Dancing with the Stars where she was partnered with Mark Ballas and would go on to win the season. In 2024, she made her Broadway debut in the jukebox musical & Julietwhere she played the role of Charmain. She has been recognized as a “30 under 30” and “40 under 40” for Forbes, and was named one of the 100 most influential digital creators from around the world by Time.
D’Amelio celebrated her birthday on TikTok with a Sabrina Carpenter lip sync featuring her same fit she highlighted on Instagram.
