PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The newest team in town is now complete as the final Fire players have arrived in Portland fresh off the end of their overseas seasons.
The number one pick in the expansion draft for the Fire, Bridget Carleton of Canada, and second year forward Chloe Bibby from Australia are now in the city of roses.
Second round draft pick Frieda Buhner also just flew into the Pacific Northwest for her first day in class as a developmental player for head coach Alex Sarama.
The team is ready for the return of the Fire to the Rose Quarter in the preseason home opener on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks.
This will be the first WNBA game in the Moda Center since it was the Rose Garden when the original Fire last played in 2002.
FOX 12’s Nick Krupke and two-time WNBA champion Sheri Sam will host the pregame show, Fire Courtside Live, at 3:30 p.m. on Rose City SportsNet.
