Body recovered from river in Jackson County, officials say

JACKSON COUNTY — Authorities are investigating after a deceased individual was found Saturday evening in a river near Malone Bridge.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 5:30 p.m. May 2 to a report of a body located in a river along County Road 311. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the report.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers Division was called in to assist with the investigation. Texas Game Wardens are also assisting at the scene.
Officials said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending further investigation.
