A deadly crash shut down a major stretch of Interstate 85 in Durham early Monday morning.
Durham police said at least one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash after 3 a.m.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was at the scene as emergency responders blocked the road near the I-885 and U.S. 70 split.
Both cars were destroyed in the crash. Officers said one of the vehicles was on fire when they arrived, and another had heavy damage in an embankment.
