Portland police confirm crime scene at group home

Maine’s Total Coverage has a crew outside a group home in Portland’s Deering neighborhood, where there is a heavy police presence.Maine’s Total Coverage reporter Jim Keithley captured a photo that showed multiple Portland Police Department vehicles parked near a home at 503 Woodford St., which is on the corner of Woodford Street and Rosemont Avenue.Keithley spotted more than a half-dozen police cruisers, a mobile crime scene van and a fire engine at the scene.Portland Police Chief Mark Dubois confirmed to Keithley that there is a crime scene in a back hallway of the home.Keithley learned the building is a group home for Shalom House, an organization with the mission to support adults with mental illness.There were residents inside who were escorted from the second floor of the home via a fire engine’s ladder so they would not have to walk through the crime scene.
