Worldwide Caution – Enroll in STEP
Location: National Stadium of Costa Rica, San Jose
Event: The Presidential Inauguration of Laura Fernández will take place on May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the National Stadium of Costa Rica. The event will draw large crowds to the area, and movements of foreign dignitaries and government officials could further complicate normal traffic patterns. The United States Embassy has re-scheduled all routine visa and passport appointments originally scheduled for May 7 and 8, but the Consular Section will remain open for emergency services.

Avoid any demonstrations or protests. Be aware of your surroundings, particularly in large crowds. Monitor local media for updates including traffic reports.
