WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A black bear was seen running through some yards and streets in Wilmington.
A video sent to WECT’s See it, Snap it, Send it by Tim Garner showed a black bear running through some front yards into a street before jumping a fence.
Garner said he spotted the bear along Wrightsville and Wilshire Avenue.
The N.C. The Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) says black bears are found throughout North Carolina, from the mountains to the piedmont and coastal plain.
NCWRC says bears are commonly attracted to garbage and recycling, bird feeders, grills, pet food and trash inside vehicles. When bears access food sources, they are more likely to remain near homes and communities.
