Former UMass women’s basketball player and All-Atlantic 10 Conference player Sydney Taylor earned her spot on the Chicago Sky’s 12-player WNBA roster. The guard played four years with the Minutewomen and becomes the third player to reach the highest level in basketball.

The Long Island, N.Y. native earned all-conference honors in 2023 (first team) and 2022 (second team), alongside A-10 all-conference tournament team honors in both years.

In over 100 games played, Taylor climbed UMass’ leaderboards to 11th place in points scored all time.

She accomplished that feat in part due to her electric three-point scoring. Taylor sits second in all-time 3-pointers made with a quarter century on the nose. Her 250 triples are being hunted currently by rising junior Yahmani McKayle.

The 2026 All-MAC first-team award winner has 112 three-pointers in her career, not even halfway to Taylor’s incredible demonstration of career-long dedication and accuracy.

Taylor’s impact extended beyond long-range shooting, as she consistently ranked among the team leaders in minutes, field goal attempts and scoring throughout her tenure. In her senior season, she averaged over 16 points per game while leading the Minutewomen in three-pointers made. She recorded multiple 20-point performances across conference play, including several outings with five or more made threes.

After her four seasons at UMass, Taylor spent her graduate season at Louisville, where she appeared in 34 games, averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, and led the Cardinals with 57 made three-pointers.

Before landing in Chicago, Taylor spent time in Poland with MB Zagłębie Sosnowiec, where she averaged 23 points per game and shot 32.6% from 3-point range. She signed a training camp contract with Chicago on April 13.

Chicago finished the 2025 season with a 10-34 record, moving on from LSU star Angel Reese in the off-season and essentially rebuilding. Taylor will be a critical piece of the Sky’s hopeful rebound upcoming season.
