ATLANTA, Ga. (ATL Live) –
If you’ve ever thought design only meant furniture or fashion, the High Museum of Art is offering a much bigger view this spring. Andrew Tyree visited the museum and talked with Monica Obniski, the High’s Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, about “Isamu Noguchi: ‘I am not a designer’”—a landmark exhibition bringing together work that spans decades and multiple forms.
Noguchi’s output stretches from sculptural objects to practical pieces meant for daily life, and the show also highlights something Atlantans can experience outside the galleries: a model of Piedmont Park’s Playscapes, the only playground he saw built in the U.S. during his lifetime.
