The Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini scandal continues to grow, and a top analyst believes that the New England Patriots may resort to using an NDA to stop the story from bleeding into the head coach’s professional career.
Ahead of the 2026 season, the effectiveness of Vrabel, 50, as a coach is being called into question as the story of his illicit affair with the former Athletic reporter, Russini, 43, continues to be a hot topic. NBC Sports analyst and founder of ProFootballTalk, Mike Florio, recently laid out how the New England Patriots could prevent Russini from telling her story so that the team can focus on its 2026 season.

“Some sort of settlement agreement, with an NDA, would not be unprecedented in a situation like this,” he wrote in an NBCSports column, published on Monday, May 4. “Regardless, she has a story to tell. The first question is whether she’ll tell it. The next question is when. The ultimate question is what she’ll say.”

Russini and Vrabel are both married to other people. However, the scandal began when they were photographed together at a luxury resort in Arizona in March. Although they initially said the interactions were innocent, Russini resigned from her position as NFL insider for The Athletic and Vrabel promised to seek counseling to focus on his family.

Russini is married to Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt, with whom she shares two kids. Meanwhile, Vrabel has been married to his wife Jen since 1999, and they share sons Tyler, 25, and Carter, 24.
Since the initial photos were published, more have come to light of the two of them allegedly getting close. Most recently, TMZ shared that they allegedly rented a private boat together back in 2021, when Russini was pregnant.
