The song previews the band’s forthcoming album

Irish band U2 were spotted atop a school bus in Mexico City today (Tues, May 12th). Band members The Edge, Bono, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. are in town to shoot a music video for a new track titled “Street of Dreams,” taken from their yet-to-be announced next studio album, due for release later this year.

Further details on the video and the album will be available as announced. It will be the band’s first album of all-new material since 2017’s Songs of Experience, and first physical release since the four-disc Songs of Surrender in 2023, featuring reworked versions of its catalog.

Online reports indicate that select members of U2’s paid fan club received an invitation to appear as part of the video shoot.

This week also sees Mexico City host the 2026 Street Child World Cup, with 30 teams from across the globe in town for this year’s tournament that will take place between May 6-14.

“It’s a little NGO with a big kick for kids with all of the talent and none of the access. Our band are proud supporters,” Mullen Jr. shares.

The video shoot follows two recent EPs by the legendary band. In March, the group released the Days of Ash EP on Ash Wednesday and followed with the Easter Lily EP ahead of Easter in early April.

Both digital EPs were accompanied by the return of Propaganda as a one-off digital zine, with a limited-edition print run. Forty years ago, in February 1986, the first issue of Propaganda dropped through the letterboxes of U2 fans around the world. Aspiring to match other fan magazines at that time, Propaganda was born out of the punk-era D.I.Y. zine culture that embraced attitude, ideas and dialogue. In the spirit of those early issues, this standalone EP will be accompanied by a one-off limited edition print run plus digital e-zine drop of Propaganda titled U2 – Days Of Ash: Six Postcards From The Present… Wish We Weren’t Here. This 52-page special publication accompanies the release of the Days Of Ash EP and includes exclusive interviews with Yours Eternally film director Ilya Mikhaylus and film producer Pyotr Verzilov, as well as musician and soldier Taras Topolia. It also includes song lyrics, notes from the four band members, plus a Q&A interview with Bono.
