The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, urged for the combination of traditional medicine and modern healthcare on Wednesday, to enhance healthcare services and protect local medical knowledge.
The king made this request while welcoming members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria from the Oyo State branch at the Olubadan Palace.
His Chief Press Secretary, Gbenga Ayoade, shared a statement in which the Olubadan emphasized that traditional medicine is effective, easy to access, and affordable for many Nigerians.

“I trust in the effectiveness of traditional medicine and its availability and low cost. So, I want to take this opportunity to advocate for merging traditional medicine with modern healthcare to improve our healthcare system before we lose our traditional healers,” the monarch stated.
Earlier, Segun Ajanaku, Chairman of the Oyo State branch of PSN, mentioned that their visit aimed to congratulate the king on his new role and to recognize his accomplishments during his short time as ruler.
Ajanaku also told the king about finishing a building for pharmacists in Ibadan, which he called the first of its kind in Nigeria.

“We would like to invite Your Imperial Majesty to the opening of the building on May 21, 2026,” he stated.
He also asked the king for permission to hold the association’s annual medical outreach at the palace on September 25, 2026.
Notable guests at the event included Oba Kolawole Adegbola, Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin, and Muibi Ademola, along with other traditional leaders.
