THE SEARCH EFFORT IS ONGOING AS WE SPEAK. WE HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE SEARCH BOATS IN THE WATER HERE AT LAKE THUNDERBIRD. THIS IS THE HOG CREEK AREA ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE LAKE. NOW, HERE’S WHAT I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW. THIS IS MORE SPECIFICALLY OFF OF INDIAN POINT ROAD. AND THIS IS WHAT NORMAN FIRE AND THE CLEVELAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAID. TWO PEOPLE WERE ON A JET SKI, AND THAT JET SKI WENT UNDER WATER WITH ONE PERSON THAT WAS RECOVERED QUICKLY AND ANOTHER IS STILL MISSING. THIS ALL HAPPENED NEAR THE HOG CREEK CAMPGROUND, OFFICIALS SAY. ACCORDING TO THE NORMAN FIRE DEPARTMENT, THEY HAVE TWO BOATS IN THE WATER SEARCHING FOR THE MISSING PERSON AND ARE BEING ASSISTED BY THE LITTLE AXE FIRE DEPARTMENT. OKLAHOMA HIGHWAY PATROL AND THE CLEVELAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, AS WELL AS PARK RANGERS. SO BEING SUCH AN EARLY INVESTIGATION INTO THE INCIDENT, WE DON’T HAVE ANY MORE DETAILS TO SHARE AT THIS TIME, BUT WE’RE ACTIVELY HELPING THEM, ASSISTING THE PARKS DEPARTMENT AND THE DIVE TEAM AS THEY WORK THIS AREA. Fire officials said two people were on a “personal watercraft” that went into the water, with one person recovered in unknown condition and another still missing.
