LOS ANGELES — Left-handed starter Blake Snell will not make his scheduled start for the Dodgers on Friday, league sources tell The Athletic.
Snell was slated to make his second start of the season after missing the first six weeks rehabbing from shoulder inflammation. He logged three innings on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves, but threw 77 pitches while giving up five runs (four earned). Snell was originally scheduled to make his fourth rehab start that Saturday, but the Dodgers elected to start him on a pitch limitation when Tyler Glasnow landed on the 15-day injured list with back spasms.
Why Snell was scratched is not yet known. He is not dealing with lingering shoulder soreness, a team source said.
The Dodgers will go with a bullpen game Friday. Right-hander Will Klein is likely to start with Kyle Hurt slated for bulk innings.
