The moon and Venus will align in the Connecticut night sky Monday

Look up to the western sky in Connecticut this week and you’ll be able to spot Venus in conjunction with the crescent moon, according to NASA. 

The moon’s crescent will point towards Venus, which is sometimes called the evening star. The planet is one of the brightest objects viewed from Earth, according to NASA.

Along with Venus, Jupiter will also be visible in close proximity to the moon this week. 

Jupiter will sit higher in the sky above Venus. Between Monday night and Wednesday night, the moon will appear higher and higher — first in close proximity to Venus, and then aligned closer to Jupiter, according to EarthSky.org.

Fortunately, Monday and Tuesday night should have good visibility for stargazing. Both nights will feature mostly clear skies. Temperatures will be comfortable Monday night, with lows in the mid 60s. Tuesday night will feel balmy, with lows only getting down to the lower 70s.

Wednesday night is a wash for stargazing — cloud cover is expected to blanket the state. So residents’ best bet is Monday and Tuesday night.

The month will end with a rare event — a second full moon in the same calendar month, a blue moon.
