TOWN OF NEWARK — A 33-year-old Whitewater man died Monday night after losing control of his vehicle and crashing in the Town of Newark, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:01 p.m. on W Saint Lawrence Avenue, just west of S Burchfield Road near the Illinois-Wisconsin Border. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Beloit EMS responded to the single-vehicle crash with injuries.

According to the investigation, the man was driving a Honda Accord eastbound on W Saint Lawrence Avenue when the vehicle lost control. The car went into the ditch on the north side of the road, rolled over and came to rest on the north side of the roadway.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel performed life-saving measures at the scene before transporting the driver to Beloit Memorial Hospital via ambulance. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

No other occupants or vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office, City of Beloit Police Department and Town of Beloit EMS all responded to assist at the scene.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing, but authorities said they do not suspect any criminal activity at this time.
