A 55-year-old woman is accused of shooting and killing a 21-year-old “acquaintance” at a Crosby home, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Courtney Smith, 55, was charged with the murder of Maysie Murphy, 21, after deputies found a woman dead inside a home on the 17800 block of Adlong Johnson Road Monday, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. A couple who owns the property was out of town at the time of the shooting, and Smith and Murphy both lived there, according to Major Ben Katrib.
A woman claimed she shot her granddaughter and her boyfriend, but authorities found no male victim, Katrib said. Deputies had responded to the scene to meet a caller, believed to be that same woman, at about 3:48 p.m., he added.
Smith was booked in Harris County jail, and homicide detectives were set to investigate the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.
This is a developing story.
