HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Wildlife officials have identified the Hawaiian Monk Seal found dead off the Nanakuli Coast earlier this month.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says R-H 32, known to the community as Ka’ale, was frequently seen along the Wai’ane Coast.
A video of city, state, and federal teams removing the carcass from the shoreline was posted to Instagram by HHHnewz.
A post-mortem exam will help determine what caused the seal’s death.
The results could take several weeks.
