Pennsylvania State Police held a press conference Tuesday evening, providing new updates months after a vehicle plunged off the Parkway East and into the Mon River. Trooper Rocco Gagliardi said 31-year-old Jacinta Stevens traveled into the far left lane along the Parkway East on January 29, 2026, at a high rate of speed and lost control, causing her SUV to plunge 120 feet off the bridge and into the Mon River. She was rescued from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital, where she later died. Gagliardi said an autopsy conducted on May 15 showed Stevens was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, saying she was above the legal limit. We’re told by police that Stevens pulled into Lorenz Cafe at 4:20 p.m. and spent three hours at the bar before backing into a parked car and leaving the scene. Officials also said she struck a second parked car on Steuben Street before traveling onto the Parkway East. “We were able to talk to some witnesses who were in that quantity, that matched our footage,” Gagliardi said. “So, we checked all of the vehicles in the premises of that video, and there was no damage.” He continued, saying, “One of the witnesses said she passed him on the far left lane (on I-376) at an excessive rate of speed and did lose control.”Officials said the investigation into the incident has now been completed.
