The Town of Campbell has passed its referendum to incorporate and become the Village of French Island on a vote of 1493 in favor to 30 against.
TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (WXOW) – The Town of Campbell has passed its referendum to incorporate and become the Village of French Island on a vote of 1493 in favor to 30 against.
Residents came out in droves to show their support for the incorporation. A voter turnout of over 50% is nearly unseen in recent referendum votes, showing just how much the populace favors incorporating.
Incorporation will allow the Town of Campbell to attain the full municipal powers of a village in order to maintain everything within their borders.
Current results are unofficial. Officials intend to certify the results next Tuesday. A special election will then be held to elect a village board.
