2 arrested for breaking into Cobb County coffee shop, using restroom to bathe

  • May 21, 2026

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Two people are facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into a Cobb County Caribou Coffee and using the business’s restroom to bathe, according to police.

Austin Gravett, 30, and Alyssa Clingan, 29, were both taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and have been charged with second-degree burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects and tampering with evidence.

The Kennesaw Police Department said officers responded to the Caribou Coffee on Cobb Parkway shortly after 1 a.m. on May 11 after an anonymous 911 caller reported seeing two people enter the closed coffee shop.

When officers arrived, they said they did not immediately see anyone inside the business but heard music coming from a restroom while checking the building.

Police entered the store and announced themselves. After a brief delay, Clingan exited the restroom and allegedly locked the door behind her again, according to an arrest report.

While Clingan was being detained, police said she told officers another person, identified as Gravett, was still inside the restroom. Gravett later came out and was also detained.

Investigators said it appeared the pair had been bathing inside the restroom.

During a search of the area, an officer noticed a trash can lid that appeared out of place and began looking for possible evidence after the suspects allegedly failed to immediately comply with commands to exit.

According to the report, officers found two Dairy Queen boxes inside the trash can. The report states Gravett was wearing a Dairy Queen work shirt at the time.

Police said they also discovered three broken pipes believed to be used for smoking narcotics, along with a bag containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

When an officer referred to the items as “crack pipes,” Clingan allegedly corrected the officer and said they were “meth pipes,” according to the report. Police said she stopped speaking with investigators afterward.

Authorities said a field test later confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
