Two men were taken to a hospital Thursday when a small plane crashed at Jaffrey Airport.Police said the plane veered off the runway and flipped onto its roof as the pilot was trying to land at the airfield, also known as Silver Ranch.The pilot and a passenger, both from out of state, were the only two people inside. Both men suffered serious injuries to their torsos and heads but were able to talk with first responders.Medical helicopters flew the men to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.”This is actually the first airplane crash we’ve ever had to respond to,” said Jaffrey Police Chief Chris Labrecque. “I was speaking to the owner of the Ranch who said the last time was about 20 years ago, so it doesn’t happen too often.”The airport manager said the plane flew out of the Albany, New York area, where it’s registered. The manager said it was not on a training flight.Officials said the airfield would remain closed while the FAA investigates the wreckage.
