ATLANTA (May 21, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s Cerebral Palsy (CP) National Team made history on Thursday, using a hat trick from captain Josh Brunais as well as strikes from veterans Ben Lindau, Jacob Crumbley and Cameron DeLillo to earn a comprehensive 7-1 win against Scotland in the first-ever international match played at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center. The contest was the first of a two-game series the USA and Scotland will play during the fifth annual ADAPTandTHRIVE Invitational being held this week at the new Home for Soccer in America, with the second match coming on Friday, May 22 (7:30 p.m. ET; U.S. Soccer YouTube).

In his 99th match leading the CP MNT, Scottish-born manager Stuart Sharp ran out the same Starting VII that began the historic 4-1 win against Argentina in the 2025 IFCPF Copa America Final last October, but it was visitors that opened the scoring when Will Graham slotted his low free kick from just outside the area inside the lower left post in the sixth minute.

The lead was short-lived however, as Jonah Meyer-Crothers drove forward into the Scotland box before being pulled down and referee Skye Gerland Arthur-Banning immediately pointed to the spot. Veteran midfielder Ben Lindau calmly stepped up and buried his penalty past Christopher Moore to equalize in the eighth minute and register the first U.S. goal at the National Training Center.

The USA stayed on the front foot. In the 13th minute, Frankie Lowery blasted a powerful free kick off the left post. The team recycled the ball and John Sullivan laid back a pass for Brunais who saw his one-time effort well saved by Moore. The U.S. duo successfully replicated the play a minute later, Sullivan finding the end line before slipping back to Brunais who made no mistake slotting home to give the USA a 2-1 lead.

Brunais increased the lead to 3-1 in the 21st minute, taking a feed from Meyer-Crothers down the left before cutting inside the box and cranking an effort into the top right corner.

Brunais then completed his first career hat trick in the 28th minute, turning in another feed from Meyer-Crothers to give the USA a commanding 4-1 halftime lead and taking his career goal tally to 10.

The humidity evened out the play some to start the second half, but Scotland threatened the U.S. again in the 38th minute when Graham’s curling free kick from the left looked destined for the top right corner before Marc Estrella parried the ball out for a corner kick.

Estrella then contributed to the attack, playing a ball out of the back for Crumbley who smashed a low effort home to make it 5-1 in the 39th minute.

The U.S. found its sixth as substitute Cameron DeLillo’s cross from the right careened off Scotland’s Michael Glynn and again off Moore before trickling over the goal line in the 57th minute.

Substitute Jacob Kaplan then linked up with DeLillo who bagged the final goal in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time, closing the scoring at 7-1.

The CP MNT will meet Scotland in a second International Challenge Match on Friday, May 22 at the National Training Center. The match will be broadcast live via the U.S. Soccer YouTube channel beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
