Kelly Clarkson‘s ex husband and former talent manager Brandon Blackstock has died at 48.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a representative for the family said in a statement reported by People. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

This comes one day after Clarkson, 43 — who shares daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington Alexander, 9, with Blackstock — announced that she would be postposing the rest of her Las Vegas residency shows for the month of August as he battled a then-unnamed illness.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill. At this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, August 6. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

As Star previously reported, an insider told Page Six last month that Clarkson been fighting “serious hidden battles” that “very few people” were “privy” to in recent months.

“Kelly’s personal life is so insanely complicated,” the insider said at the time. “It’s a source of emotional and therefore physical distress for her.”

Clarkson and Blackstock got married in 2013, but seven years later, the “Since U Been Gone” singer filed for divorce. It was finalized in March 2022.
