Final Fantasy is beginning to see more notable crossovers into the fighting game genre. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate got Cloud Strife and Sephiroth while Tekken 7 would eventually guest star Noctis Lucis Caelum.
Tekken 8 would continue the trend by adding Clive Rosfield as a guest in Season 1. Evidently, Square Enix is open to doing this again with the Tekken series, and probably other popular fighting games.
A tantalizing rumor recently suggested that Final Fantasy’s Tifa Lockhart is also due to join Street Fighter 6. This is interesting considering that there have been plenty of fans petitioning Tifa for Tekken for a number of years at this point.
Needless to say, Mirage recently posted an interesting clip that polled fighting game notables on whether they think Tifa would be better suited for Street Fighter 6 or Tekken 8. This is likely a direct result of the aforementioned rumor’s circulation.
Numerous players seem to push Tifa as a good candidate for the game that they don’t play. Meanwhile, there are also a few players that don’t seem to care for Tifa one way or the other.
While there seem to be plenty of professional players that don’t necessarily want Tifa in their fighting games, there’s no doubt that such an announcement would resonate well with other audiences.
