Later this year, a 175-foot-tall Ferris wheel is set to open at San Pedro’s Los Angeles Waterfront. It will be the tallest Ferris wheel in California once it debuts.

Currently, the highest Ferris wheel in the state is the 100-foot-tall Pacific Wheel at the Santa Monica Pier.

Like the Santa Monica pier, the San Pedro Ferris wheel will be surrounded by a plethora of other theme park rides.

The 175-foot wheel will be open to guests year-round because the seats will be enclosed.

Riders will have a clear view of the Pacific Ocean, alongside other historic sites like the Vincent Thomas Bridge and the USS Iowa Battleship Museum.

The attraction will be a part of the West Harbor District, debuting at the waterfront by the end of this year.

The whopping 300,000-square-foot district will feature a 6,200-seat amphitheater that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

Additionally, attendees will have hundreds of places to choose from for dining, shopping, amusement, or simply watching the Pacific.

Waterslide paddle and pickleball, for instance, will provide visitors the chance to play in an exciting, waterfront pickleball tournament.

Some beloved restaurants set to make a home at the waterfront are Yamashiro and LoZio Pizza, among many others.

The cost to put together the waterfront project is around $500 million.

Currently, the West Harbor district offers a limited scope of attractions.

Locals can visit the waterfront today for seafood at San Pedro Fish Market Landing, a tour of the Pacific Ocean with Breeze Cruises, or to rent bikes from Wheel Fun Rentals.

The Amphitheater’s Opening

The 6,200-seat amphitheater is set to open this summer, months before the rest of the district’s attractions are set to debut.

Even before the venue’s opening, its first event is already scheduled.

Fans can buy tickets to the World Cup 26 Fan Zones happening at the amphitheater on June 14, 15, 18, and 19.

The fan zones will host live viewings of matches for attendees to watch together.
