Two-time WNBA Champion and four-time All-Star Kelsey Plum has suffered a setback towards the beginning of her WNBA season with the Los Angeles Sparks. Plum, who has played all six of the Sparks’ games in the 2025-26 campaign thus far, has now suffered a leg injury during team practice, per a post on X by ClutchPoints’ David Mendez-Yapkowitz.

Head coach Lynne Roberts revealed after practice that she was unsure about the seriousness of what seemed like an ankle injury. Further updates about the injury can be expected in the coming time.

Any missed time will be huge for the 31-year-old, who has started the campaign on a tear. She is currently averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game on a mind-boggling almost 59% shooting efficiency, her best in her career thus far, although it comes through a very small sample size of six games.

Plum played and starred in the Sparks’ recent win over the Las Vegas Aces, from which she returned with 38 points, nine assists and four rebounds off 12-17 shooting. The Sparks will hope that there is no lengthy absence to deal with considering they come into the season after a difficult 2025 campaign that saw them finish 9th in the Western Conference with a 21-23 record.

Plum won her two WNBA championships during her initial stint with the Aces from 2017-2024. She joined the Sparks after being involved in a three-team trade that also included the Seattle Storm, and re-signed on a one-year deal earlier in April 2026.

Fans will hope that despite the injury, Plum is fit enough to start in the Sparks’ next game on May 30, against the Washington Mystics.
