CHESANING, Mich. (WJRT) – The Chesaning Police Department is warning residents after a bear was spotted in town this weekend.
Police posted a photo on their Facebook page showing a bear cub in Showboat Park. Officers are reminding everyone not to approach or feed bears, especially cubs, because a mother bear is likely nearby.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources advises residents to take down bird feeders, secure garbage cans indoors at night, keep outdoor pet food locked up and keep grills clean to avoid attracting bears in residential areas.
