SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WBTV) – A massive alligator was spotted roaming residential yards near North Carolina’s coast on Monday.
The alligator was reportedly seen in the Southport area of Brunswick County on the morning of Monday, May 25.

Southport police posted several photos (below) and said officers ultimately captured the reptile and relocated it safely.

According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, alligators are common in some coastal areas of the state.
The reptiles occur naturally in bay lakes, rivers, creeks, marshes, swamps, and ponds; they’re occasionally spotted in residential areas, including places like Southport.
