The San Antonio Spurs took down the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night, 118-91, to force a win-or-go-home Game 7 on Saturday.
Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, after going just 4-of-15 from the floor in Game 5, took over on Thursday, leading all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. He also hauled in 10 rebounds, recorded two steals and blocked three shots in the victory.

While Wembanyama’s play on the court was phenomenal, leading his team to a Game 7, his outfit before the game caught the attention of fans.

The 7-foot-4 French native arrived at Frost Bank Center on Thursday wearing a unique dark green robe with grey pants and a pair of slides that matched the robe.
He was asked about the outfit after the game, and Wembanyama said that he wore the robe for a religious purpose.
“Victor Wembanyama, in French, said in his postgame news conference that the robe he wore to the game tonight wasn’t because of the monks — but to celebrate Eid al-Adha, an Islamic holiday,” said The Associated Press reporter Tim Reynolds.

Many thought Wembanyama’s robe was an ode to the Shaolin monastery of monks, which he went to and trained at before the 2025-26 season began. He spent nearly two weeks in China preparing for a comeback year after he was limited to just 46 games last season.
His training with the monks paid off during the regular season, as Wembanyama averaged career-highs in points (25.0) and rebounds (11.5), to go along with 3.1 blocks per contest en route to an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

As for the holiday that he was celebrating with his pregame outfit on Thursday, Eid al-Adha is the most significant holiday on the Islamic calendar.
Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to clinch their berth in the NBA Finals on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET in Game 7 against the Thunder. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
