The Chicago Sky are heading into their game against the Minnesota Lynx on Friday with an unusually long injury report. The team is currently 3-4 in the Eastern Conference standings, and will have to try and snap a three-game losing streak amid the multitude of absences, including promising third-year center Kamilla Cardoso who was one of two new additions to the list.
Both Kamilla Cardoso and Natasha Cloud have been ruled out on the Sky’s injury report for their game against the Lynx as they are both dealing with an illness, as per Kareem Copeland of ESPN. That brings the total number of players out for the Sky to six. As a result, the team signed rookie wing Saylor Poffenbarger to a hardship contract.
In addition to Cardoso and Cloud, the Sky are also without Rickea Jackson, Courtney Vandersloot, DiJonai Carrington and Gabriel Jaquez. Jackson suffered a season-ending ACL injury, while Vandersloot and Carrington have yet to make their season debuts. Jaquez, who had gotten off to a strong start to her rookie season, has a knee injury.
For Carrington, she is still recovering from a foot injury sustained during last season’s playoffs when she was with the Lynx. Vandersloot is also still rehabbing from an injury suffered last year, an ACL tear that occurred in June 2025.
This past offseason was a busy one for the Sky as they went through a roster overhaul beginning with trading Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream. Including Reese, seven of the team’s 12 players on the roster from last season are gone.
