It was a family party — parents, grandparents, kids all around, people going in and out of the pool — and it just became a real quick question of ‘where’s he at,’ and then it was a location in the bottom of the pool,” Trooper Rocco Gagliardi said.Police said CPR was performed for nearly an hour before the child was taken to the hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition Friday night.”We performed about 20 minutes of CPR right there in that lawn area, with EMS on scene and fire rescue,” Gagliardi said. “From there, it became somewhat of a challenging task because we had to determine with emergency crews where this child needed to go at this point in time and the status of the child.”We weren’t getting the best sort of rates back from EMS, so CPR continued for about another 40-ish minutes as we loaded the young boy into the ambulance and transported him down to the road for the LifeFlight evacuation to Pittsburgh’s hospital system.”State troopers are investigating, but Gagliardi said there did not appear to be any foul play or use of alcohol by the adults who were around the child.”At this point, it just seems like it was a family party on a Friday with an accident,” he said.Watch full video of the police news conference in the video player aboveDownload the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
