Dad Suggests Books in Fayetteville is drawing community praise for its welcoming atmosphere.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — If you’re looking for a cozy spot to explore your love of reading or just want a wholesome weekend outing, there’s a new hidden gem waiting just around the corner in Fayetteville.
Tucked off Mission Boulevard, Dad Suggests Books is a charming, family-owned bookstore owned by Ryan and Jessica Billingsley. What started in 2018 as a book and game blog where Ryan would share his favorite finds with fellow parents has grown into a full-fledged storefront filled with stories, whimsy and warmth.
After opening a small space inside Brick City in 2022, the Billingsleys were overwhelmed with community support.
Encouraged by positive feedback and steady growth, they made the leap to a bigger, brighter space just six weeks ago at 2526 E Mission Blvd #110, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
And so far? The response has been better than they imagined.
“So far, it’s been overwhelming with the positivity,” Ryan told 5NEWS. “The nicest thing to hear, honestly, is when people say, ‘I heard this from my friend.’ People are actually walking out the door and had such a good time that they thought it was worth telling someone else about.”
That word-of-mouth support has helped shape the bookstore into more than just a place to buy books, it’s become a feel-good destination for readers of all ages.
Whether you’re a lifelong reader or someone looking to rediscover your love of books, Ryan hopes the shop can offer a meaningful experience, especially for younger visitors.
“Already we’ve seen kids come in and their parents or grandparents say, ‘My kid’s not a reader,’” Ryan said. “But while they’re here, they find something they’re interested in. I want kids to have a positive association with reading.”
Alongside handpicked books, you’ll also find board games and unique gifts—each item carefully curated with families in mind.
