One person is dead, and another is injured after a gunman opened fire outside a party at a city-owned property.
Around 10:50 P.M. Saturday, emergency responders received reports of a shooting at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex on Centre Point Parkway in Santa Clarita.
“Upon arrival, deputies located two male adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies provided medical aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel,” LASD Homicide Bureau officials said.
“Both were transported; one was pronounced dead at the hospital, and one is in critical condition,” said Ryan Rau, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The LASD Homicide Bureau confirmed that deputies have a person of interest detained.
The identity of the person who died in the shooting has not been released pending legal notification of next of kin.
