The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says attacks from black bears are rare, and they hardly ever become aggressive. If a bear does approach you, the DNR recommends talking to it in a firm voice, back away and keep watching the bear and if a bear follows you, act boldly by yelling or raising your arms.
