Minecraft is already available on Nintendo Switch 2 via backwards compatibility. In other words, you can play the Nintendo Switch 1 version on the system. However, a native Nintendo Switch 2 version could bring new benefits for players.
While it’s definitely great that we have Minecraft on Nintendo Switch – and the game sold extremely well there – it came with limitations. Bringing it over to Nintendo’s latest console could offer performance, image quality, stability, and other improvements across the board.
It’s possible that Minecraft could be announced during an upcoming showcase – a lot of those will be happening over the next week. A Nintendo Switch 2 version could also just drop on its own. We’ll be on the lookout for any official announcement.
