Fake Fever rumor involving head coach Stephanie White dupes Skip Bayless

Fake accounts on X are annoying, for sure, but when they fool someone equally as annoying as Skip Bayless like one did with a fake Indiana Fever rumor involving head coach Stephanie White, we don’t mind them as much.

Amid the ongoing controversy between White and Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark, both of whom continue to clash, a fake account posted a rumor that White had been let go and that one of Clark’s college coaches, Jan Jensen, was expected to replace White.

Along with the account itself, Bayless should have been immediately tipped off by the part of the fake report that said Jansen would simultaneously coach the Fever and Iowa, which is just ridiculous.

Instead, Bayless bought every word of it.

“No surprise: Stephanie White reportedly out after repeated in-game clashes with Caitlin Clark,” he wrote on X. on Sunday evening “Not saying White was wrong – but YOU CAN’T SHOW UP THE FACE OF THE LEAGUE ON CAMERA.”

“Caitlin obviously wants a favorite of hers from Iowa, Jan Jensen. But no way Jensen can coach both,” Bayless added.

Credit to Bayless, he didn’t delete the tweet and later acknowledged he had been duped.

He still believes White’s days are numbered.

“Now they’re saying reports are erroneous about Stephanie White. But the point is, she won’t last much longer clashing during games with CAITLIN CLARK … even if her issues with Caitlin are mostly valid,” Bayless said.

“The Indiana Fever are expected to name Jan Jensen as their next head coach amid growing speculation surrounding Stephanie White’s future with the franchise following recent tensions spreading online involving Caitlin Clark,” the account said. “Jensen would remain as Iowa’s head coach while simultaneously taking on the Fever role in a historic dual-coaching arrangement.”

There have always been hints that something is off between the Fever superstar and her head coach, but that came to a head recently.

During Indiana’s last game against the Portland Fire, Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White were clearly arguing on the bench.

It got so bad that White appeared to throw Clark out of the team huddle.

Being the polarizing figure she is, we’ve seen no shortage of different takes on who is to blame for this entire situation.

Clark’s most ardent supporters, like Bayless, for example, believe White and the WNBA are doing more to bring Clark down than lift her up as the face of the league.

Clark’s detractors think the Iowa product is a diva who just doesn’t take to coaching well and has gotten too big for her own good.

No matter what you believe, I think we can all agree that it’s hilarious Bayless got fooled by a fake tweet.
