A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a 28-year-old man dead at a home in a quiet Massapequa neighborhood Monday, Nassau County police said.

Police confirmed officers called to the home found the unconscious man “with a stab wound” — stating he was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic. Police have not released the identity of the man or of the woman arrested, or the charges against her.

Police also have not detailed the circumstances surrounding the death.

Officers swarmed the neighborhood just west of Massapequa High School at 1:30 a.m. and police aviation units hovered overhead above the scene on Beaumont Avenue most of the morning.

Police searched a home on the street, where a crime scene unit, a police ambulance and patrol cars were parked.

Police opened Beaumont Avenue at about 1 p.m. Monday but the house where the stabbing occurred remained behind yellow police tape.

Homicide detectives left the home and a cleanup crew entered with friends of the family.

Josie Conetda, 19, who lives across the street, said she awoke to police and ambulances out her window.

“I woke up at 2 in the morning to red lights and woke my mom up, and then we saw that there was something wrong ,” Conetda said. “About an hour later, a girl came out,” accompanied by police.

She said she grew up across the street from the man who was killed.

“I’ve known him my whole life, so I’m pretty upset,” Conetda said. “It’s definitely something you don’t want to wake up to at 2 a.m., especially hearing that he did die.”

Paul Forman, 79, who lives at the end of the street, said he awoke to helicopters at 5 a.m. and saw the crime scene out his front door. He said he saw a neighbor was crying outside.

Friends were seen carrying drinks and groceries into the family’s house as others sat on the front porch surveying the police tape and news cameras.

Anthony Boccia, who lives on a neighboring street, said residents were up all night with the sound of helicopters and flashing police lights.

“It’s a very sad situation,” he said.
