Jessica Shepard named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week

The accolades have continued to pour in for Dallas Wings forward Jessica Shepard who was named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Shepard, who recorded 22 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in a 95-87 win over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces last week, earned her first-ever Player of the Week honor and became the first Dallas player to earn that recognition since July 2023.

Her performance against the Aces marked the first time in WNBA history that a player recorded 22 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in a game. It was the second triple-double Shepard has recorded this season and the third of her career. The forward tied Candace Parker and Caitlin Clark for third all-time in regular-season triple doubles.

Shepard also set the franchise record for career triple doubles and is the only player in the WNBA to post a triple-double this season. 

Averaging 12.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists through nine games this season, Shepard is tied with the Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese for first in rebounds per game. 

Shepard joined the Wings in free agency on a multi-year deal and has proven early to be a crucial part of the team’s rebuild. Dallas, 6–3 ahead of its Friday matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks, is off to its best start through nine games since the franchise relocated to North Texas in 2016.
