If there was one thing gleaned from the brief appearance of Detroit Red Wings 2024 first-round pick Michael Brandsegg-Nygard with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins at the end of last season, it’s that the Norwegian winger is a quick study.
With every game for the Griffins, you could sense Brandsegg-Nygard figuring out another element of the North American game. He wasn’t merely taking steps. He was making strides.
“I feel like the longer I was there, I got more comfortable and learned,” Brandsegg-Nygard said.
Could that ability to adapt and grow in such quick fashion make it at all realistic that MBN could force his way into a spot on the Red Wings roster for the 2025-26 season?
It’s certainly an intriguing notion.
