A 16-year-old is dead following a shooting in The Woodlands Thursday morning in what law enforcement officials say appears to be an accident.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home around 4 a.m. Thursday, following a 911 call reporting a teen with a gunshot wound at a home on Redberry Court in the Woodlands, according to information from the sheriff’s office.
Patrol units arrived on scene within minutes and began lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, the teen was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to officials, the teen was with a 17-year-old sibling and a 19-year-old friend.
The case will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any potential charges.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were still on scene late Thursday morning, along with representatives from the DA’s office and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The names of those involved had not been released.
